Have stayed here before, and always debate going back at the $50/night rate. It's 20 minutes from the park to the Zion National Park west entrance. On the one hand, it's very pretty, well-maintained with friendly staff. But the sites are quite narrow; the small washers/dryers are $2 each; there's no cable TV, and a number of ATVs are out-and-about on the weekends. For $50 a night, I expect more. That said, there aren't any other "high end" full hookup parks near Zion. BTW: Zion National Park is rigidly enforcing the 50-foot maximum length limit for the tunnel now. I was rejected and had to turn back and go around the long way because I was said to be 6 inches over the limit.
Very convenient for visiting Capitol Reef NP. Campground very clean, well-maintained. Everything worked well, including Wi-Fi. Didn't use showers- charge is $5/night. Grass between sites, some trees. Convenience stores, coffee shop and gas/propane across street. Scenic views to the south. Some occasional minor road noise (noisy exhaust from some trucks) from Hwy 24, but not bad, especially if you are not in the back-in row closest to the road. Traffic is light, so this is not a big deal. Would definitely return here.
OK for a night- the only choice in the area for hookups. If you don't need them, try Goblin Valley State Park- great location and facilities, just no hookups. ATVs popular among the clientèle, and they can ride around (and around) until 10:30 PM. Sites are basically dirt. Big Rig area is in back, laid out strangely- a circle of dirt with hookups on the very outside perimeter, so you either "back in" (no defined spaces) and have a long utility run, or perhaps park parallel to the perimeter if it's not going to be full. Regular pull-throughs have some gravel, aren't too bad. Showers/restrooms were clean, but broken tiles, floors. Wi-Fi worked well. Laundry room has washers and dryers- didn't use or see anyone using them. Staff very friendly, but the place is just "tired". I'd be pressed to go back.
This was fine for an overnight stop. The sites are dirt, some were level (like mine), and others not quite. The Wi-Fi was strong, and it's a short distance off the interstate. The utilities were fine (didn't use the cable TV). The owners who live in a house onsite, were extremely friendly and helpful. They came to our site and offered assistance with the setup. Will stay here again when traveling through. They also offer a AAA discount.
Beautiful park! Spacious sites, clean, nice views, on the Colorado River, just off I-70. Staff friendly and keeps the facilities in good shape. What's not to like? We'd camp here any time we are in the area.
Not too crowded when we were there, so the views were even better- lovely scenery. Site was level, good hookups in our pull-thru. Some walking to the store, but bathrooms close by. Not much doing in the area other than sightseeing, but that was plenty! Can take Lake Powell cruises from the nearby large motel facility (which also has restaurant/lounge, etc.)- a fair walk or short drive. The only real negative was that local "youth" came to the empty site across the street in the evening and built a large fire in the fire pit and drank beer and partied until around midnight. No patrol came thru, no phone service (and who to call in these days of "self-service" at the parks). Would have rated higher except for that.
